Mr. Jim Larson is presented with the Spirit of Giving Award.
Drew Allison Presenting the first Spirit of Giving Award.
We want to take a moment to recognize someone who has a big heart, in this case literally and figuratively. This award can be wrapped up in a single word; selflessness. This can be seen in these individuals work and home life. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing it in action at individuals hotels with an incredible commitment to the associates personal and professional development. However, this person work contribution is small compared to their contribution to their own family and community.
As the older brother of an adopted sister, I know first-hand the joy and benefit of providing love and opportunity that may not have been experienced under different circumstances. Unfortunately, sometimes, those with the greatest need for stability, opportunity, and love are overlooked. With an already beautiful, thriving family, this award winner and his family opened their heart, and home to a adopt a child with special needs. This is all in addition to a list of community involvement that is too long to list. The following award winner is an exceptional leader, father, and humanitarian. It is with great pleasure that I present our Spirit of Giving Award to, and here is my final hint, the only guy in the room that is taller than me, Mr. Jim Larson.
Westin Governor Morris – Banquet Team – Jeff Waldt Presenting
For the 8th year in a row now, The Westin Governor Morris Hotel has had the distinct honor of hosting The Valerie Funds Annual Holiday Party, whose sole mission is to provide support and health care for children and their families stricken with cancer and blood disorders.
This event has a special impact and has become extremely personal for the banquet staff at the Westin Governor Morris. Since 2010, the banquet staff has donated their wages for the day of the event to the Valerie Fund, founded by the parents of 9 year old Valerie Goldstein, as a way of giving back to their community and the best part of this story is they never wanted to share what they have donated with us.
