Crystal Baker Promoted to Regional Vice President for the South Texas Region
It is with great pleasure, that I can announce the internal promotion of Crystal Baker to Regional Vice President for the South Texas Region.
Crystal Baker first began her hospitality career 20 years ago with Marriott International in the San Antonio market after graduating with a Business Degree from Texas Tech University. In her career with Marriott she followed a path like so many of us, relocating to different cities to pursue the growth the industry offers and included stops in Denver, Philadelphia and New Jersey before returning home to San Antonio. Along the way Crystal developed her managerial skill set with jobs in both Operations, Sales and Food &Beverage. Each success leading to the next leadership role.
Crystal’s managerial experience includes Boutique, Full Service and our favorite of them all Select Service. Recruited to Island Hospitality in 2016 from the Sheraton in market by our South Texas RVP at the time, David Murphy, Crystal assumed leadership at one of our flagship hotels in San Antonio, the Sea World Courtyard by Marriott.
Inheriting a hotel in Red Zone and with revenue shortfalls Crystal quickly went to work restructuring her team and resolving the hotel’s issues. The success in that role led to enrolment in the Regional VP in Development (REGiD) Pathways Program and promotion to the Dual General Manager of both Sea Word San Antonio properties.
Crystal has executed consistently on our processes at IHM, delivered outstanding results and been a leader in ensuring that she is building a pipeline of talent through her own commitment to the Pathways Program. I look forward to Crystal bringing her brand of leadership in her new position as Regional Vice President.
